Artist Statement
My work explores the emotional and architectural spaces where the sacred, industrial, and personal intersect. Through collage and mixed media, I construct spatial narratives that suggest memory, transformation, and the tension between permanence and impermanence. Drawing on imagery from ecclesiastical architecture, domestic interiors, and the built environment, I reframe these elements through layered composition and surreal juxtapositions to examine how we experience space, time, and presence.
A central focus of my practice is the role of women within traditionally male-dominated spaces—religious, institutional, and architectural. By placing feminine figures within monumental or rigid structures, I explore how female identity can quietly disrupt, reclaim, or recenter these environments. These interventions ask the viewer to consider the poetics of scale, power, and visibility.
Alongside more narrative collage works, I also create abstract mixed media pieces using found and discarded materials. These compositions are built through a process of layering, sanding, and reconfiguring, allowing traces of past images and surfaces to remain visible—like architectural ghosts. This material-driven approach reflects my interest in both physical and emotional excavation, and the possibilities for renewal within remnants.
Across both bodies of work, I am guided by an impulse to create visual meditations—spaces that invite pause, introspection, and a reconsideration of how we inhabit the structures around and within us.
